CONSERVATIVE FIGHTER
Michael McLendon
Mike McLendon is a lifelong Mississippian, devoted Christian, husband, and father who has built a successful career in the insurance industry. A former Alderman who was known for fighting to protect his community from reckless development and higher taxes. Mike and his wife Vickey, a Captain with American Airlines, are proud parents and active members of Hernando United Methodist Church.
Businessman, Father
& Insurance Broker
Mike’s roots run deep in Mississippi. A Christian, husband, and father, Mike works as an insurance broker with Higginbotham, formerly Lipscomb & Pitts Insurance, LLC, specializing in commercial and employee benefits coverage. Prior to joining Lipscomb & Pitts, Mike dedicated 19 years to Mississippi Farm Bureau Insurance, building extensive experience in the industry. He has been married to his college sweetheart, Vickey Blythe McLendon, for over 36 years. Vickey is a Captain with American Airlines.
They are the proud parents of two sons, Hunter and Sadler. Dr. Hunter McLendon resides in Jackson, Mississippi, where he practices medicine. He and his wife, Emily Gray McLendon, have one child and are expecting twins. Sadler followed in his father’s footsteps into the insurance industry and works as an agent with Canopy Insurance. He and his wife, Lauren Leigh McLendon, also live in Hernando.
Mike formerly served as Alderman for Ward 4 in Hernando, where he was passionate about protecting the city from fast, unplanned, and harmful development. He consistently fought against tax increases, advocated for public safety, supported family-owned businesses, and stood firm against Hernando becoming just another city filled with apartments, strip malls, and gas stations.
After attending Northwest Mississippi Community College and Memphis State University, he became a Class A PGA member in the Aloha and Tennessee sections, working at Wedgewood, KoOlina, and Southwind.
Mike has always had a heart for service. He is a founding member of HYFA, a Northwest Mississippi Theatre Alliance Judge, and a Speech and Debate Judge. He is also a proud member of the NRA and Ducks Unlimited.
Mike, Vickey, Sadler, and Lauren are active members of Hernando United Methodist Church, and the McLendons remain dedicated to serving their community in DeSoto County.

In the Senate
Mike McLendon went to the State Senate with one mission: fight for our conservative values and defend the people of DeSoto County—and that’s exactly what he’s done. As Senator, he led the charge to ban Critical Race Theory in our classrooms by authoring and passing historic Senate Bill 2113, ensuring our children are not “indoctrinated” by liberal ideology or ever told they’re inferior or privileged because of their skin color.
Mike kept his word and delivered conservative results, not empty promises.
He also fought to give teachers the biggest pay raise in state history, brought home over $183 million in new investments for DeSoto County, helped cut taxes, and eliminated DEI programs that push a left-wing agenda in our schools and government.
And while others stayed quiet, Mike has time and time again stood up to protect Mississippi’s PERS retirement system—the one that teachers, first responders, and public servants count on after a lifetime of service. While career politicians and bureaucrats look for ways to gut it, Mike’s been in the trenches fighting to keep it strong.
And when unelected judges and political insiders tried to break up DeSoto County and hand it over to Democrats in the Delta, Mike didn’t back down. He stood up to the NAACP, the ACLU, career politicians, lobbyists, and liberal activists who wanted to silence our voice. He fought like hell to keep our community together and our values represented—and he won. Mike doesn’t work for the Capitol crowd—he works for you.
